Our adventure of raising Texas Longhorn cattle has been....a wild ride. My husband and I have always had a passion for agriculture and couldn't wait to have some land to raise cattle. Prior to moving to what is now Indian Valley Farms, we were making due in a subdivision on 1/3 acre lot. We had a dream, and we were determined to make it happen!
A few short months after moving to our home, my husband purchased 4 registered Texas Longhorns- two heifers, and two calves. What was wrong with this you ask? Well, these 4 longhorns were in route to our home....and we had NOTHING ready. No fence, no hay, no water trough. We rushed to put up a fence (if you could call it that) and it kept those 4 longhorns in their place for a whole,....12 hours! And so it began, the project of keeping what was now free range cattle on our property all while trying to put up an actual and functional electric fence.

Picture it: Indian Valley Farms 2022, with cattle staring into your front window while you drink your morning coffee! That is what I saw on day 2 of owning longhorns...as pictured above!
I decided to start this blog to share our adventures and share some knowledge of what we learn along the way! Enjoy reading along as we continue to just grab life by the horns!
